What It’s Really Like to Charter a Catamaran in Koh Samui
With Oceans Elite Charters, a private catamaran charter gives you the freedom to explore Koh Samui at your own pace. Instead of crowded tours and fixed schedules, you can spend more time snorkeling, swimming, relaxing in secluded bays, or enjoying the beach whenever you choose.
Our luxury catamaran charters in Koh Samui offer spacious decks, shaded areas, and excellent stability, making them ideal for families, couples, and groups of friends.
The boat is only part of the experience—the real advantage is having a day designed around you. As an independent charter company based in Koh Samui, Oceans Elite Charters matches you with the right catamaran based on your group size, preferences, and itinerary.

Why a Catamaran?
Most people arrive in Koh Samui expecting good beaches and clear water, and they get both. Seeing it from your own catamaran is a different thing entirely.
You Probably Will Not Get Seasick
The twin-hull design makes catamarans far more stable than a single-hull boat. If you are usually the one going quiet on boats, you will notice the difference within the first twenty minutes. You can walk around, eat properly and stay on your feet.
Space — Actual, Proper Space
Wide decks, plenty of seating, shade when you want it, and the trampoline nets at the front. Everyone can do their own thing at the same time: children playing, adults reading, nobody on top of anybody.
It Is Just You and Your Crew
No strangers, no sharing. The catamaran is yours for the whole trip. Be as loud or as quiet as you like, play your own music, and do what you want without worrying about anyone else on board.
You Set the Schedule
Leave at ten instead of nine. Spend an extra hour at the bay you have just found. Skip the busy stops altogether. On a private charter these are your calls, not ours.
Groups Work Well on Catamarans
The layout is built for company — large dining areas, room to spread out, and easy access to the water from the stern. It suits families, groups of friends and celebration trips where the point is having everyone together. For larger events, look at the party yachts we charter.
The Catamarans We Charter
Oceans Elite Charters is a luxury yacht and private boat charter company based in Koh Samui, operating as an independent charter company rather than a boat owner. This gives you greater flexibility, as we can match your group with the catamaran that best suits your group size, preferred date, itinerary, and budget. With access to 13 catamarans, options range from intimate 10-guest boats to spacious sailing catamarans accommodating up to 35 guests.

Looking for something bigger or faster? We also charter luxury yachts, speedboats and the 15 Metre Power Cat, which carries up to 45 guests.
Which One Is Right for You?
Just the Two of You
Take Vickey or Victoria. Small, intimate, and ideal for a sunset cruise with a bottle of something cold.
Bringing the Children
Plan A and Grand Voyage 42 are the family boats. Space to move, easy swimming access, and enough stability that even the youngest feel secure.
A Group of Friends (10–15)
Nina, Scarlet 43 or Belize 43 are the sweet spot — plenty of deck for everyone to lounge, eat and swim without queueing for anything.
Bigger Group (15–30)
Odyssey takes 18 and Kia Ora takes 30. Social layouts, and enough room that a full boat still does not feel crowded.
Large Occasion (30–45)
Lagoon 500 carries 35 under sail; the 15 Metre Power Cat takes up to 45 with five crew. Both suit weddings, corporate days and the go-all-out celebrations.
What You Can Actually Do
A day on a catamaran is whatever you decide it is. These are the things people build their day around.
Island Hopping
Koh Samui is surrounded by good options — Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Ang Thong Marine Park and Koh Madsum. On a private charter you choose the one you visit and how long you stay there until the charter concludes.
Snorkelling
Clear waters, colourful reefs and fish that are used to visitors. Masks and fins are carried on board and the crew know which spots are worth the stop on the day — they all have a favourite, even if they will not admit to it.
Swimming
Anchor in a quiet bay and get in. Catamarans have proper swim ladders at the stern, so getting back on board is straightforward rather than undignified.
Paddleboarding and Kayaking
Carried on selected boats. It is the best way to poke around a shoreline the catamaran cannot reach, and falling in is part of it. Ask us which vessels have boards when you enquire.
Sunset Cruising
The easiest recommendation we make. Gold and pink sky, a drink in hand, nothing around you but water. If the evening is the whole point of your trip, look at Oceans Sunset.
Fishing
Fishing gear is available on several of the boats and the crew will show you how it is done. Late afternoon is the window worth asking for.
Overnight Trips
Several catamarans have proper air-conditioned cabins. Sleep at anchor, wake up somewhere quiet, and carry on the next morning — that is our Oceans Overnight charter.
Where You Can Go
Koh Madsum (Pig Island)
The one with the pigs. Good beach, easy snorkelling in the shallows, and children love it. It is also the focus of our full-day Oceans Explorer itinerary.
Koh Tan
A short hop from Samui and usually paired with Koh Madsum. Quiet, good coral, and a peaceful snorkel away from the crowds. See Koh Tan.
Koh Phangan
Far more than the full moon party. Long beaches, hidden coves and beach clubs if you are in the mood. A comfortable full day out. See Koh Phangan.
Ang Thong Marine Park
Forty-two limestone islands, emerald lagoons and viewpoints that earn the climb. Further out, and worth the crossing. Our day charter there is Oceans Discovery; more on the marine park.
Koh Tao
Clear water and some of the best snorkelling and diving in the Gulf. A long day by catamaran, so it usually pairs with an early start or an overnight. See Koh Tao.
Koh Nang Yuan
Three small islands joined by a sandbar, just off Koh Tao. Iconic view, good snorkelling, and best reached early before the day boats arrive. See Koh Nang Yuan.
Different Trips for Different People
- Half day — morning or afternoon, a quick escape from the beach.
- Full-day island tour — exploration, swim, snorkel, eat, repeat.
- Sunset cruise — a few hours of drinks, views and good company.
- Snorkelling focus — for people who want more time in the water than on it.
- Romantic day — tailored for couples, with private dining arranged in advance.
- Family day — child-friendly food, safe swimming, no stress.
- Birthday charter — decorations, music and catering arranged for you.
- Corporate day — client entertaining or a proper day out for the team.
- Overnight and multi-day — onboard accommodation with full crew.
- Completely custom — tell us what you want and our concierge team will build it.
What's Included, and What's Not
Being straight about this up front saves everyone a conversation later.
Standard on Every Charter
- An experienced local captain and crew
- Exclusive use of the whole boat for your group
- Snorkelling equipment and life jackets
- Drinking water, soft drinks, fresh fruit and snacks
- Fuel for the agreed route
- Return hotel or villa transfers
Depends on the Boat and the Package
- Lunch — usually part of a full-day charter, served on board or at a beach restaurant.
- Paddleboards and Waterslide — carried on selected vessels
- Fishing gear — available on several boats
- National park admission fees — included on some itineraries, so worth confirming
- Alcohol — sometimes included on premium charters, otherwise arranged separately
The honest answer is that it varies by vessel. Ask us and we will tell you exactly what is covered on your specific booking before you pay anything.
What It Costs
Price depends on which boat, how long you want it, how many of you there are and how far you are going. Day rates across the catamaran fleet currently start from ฿18,000 for Vickey and run to ฿65,000 for Lagoon 42 and Lagoon 500, with most boats sitting between ฿23,000 and ฿30,000.
Worth remembering: a charter is priced per boat, not per person. A ฿62,000 charter split across a group of thirty works out around ฿2,100 each for a full day with crew, transfers and equipment — which is why the larger boats often end up cheaper per head than the small ones.
Send us your date, your numbers and roughly what you want to do, and we will come back with real prices rather than a range. Request a quote.
Catamaran, Yacht or Speedboat?
| Catamaran | Motor yacht | Speedboat | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stability | Excellent | Good | Bumpier in chop |
| Deck space | The most of the three | Plenty | Limited |
| Speed | Steady | Fast | Fastest |
| Best for | Groups, families, relaxed days | Luxury and speed together | Covering distance quickly |
| Sunset cruising | Excellent | Excellent | Fine |
Choose a catamaran for space, stability and a relaxed group day. Choose a motor yacht if speed and interior luxury matter more. Choose a speedboat if you want to reach the far islands and still have most of the day there.
The Best Catamaran For...
Romance and Honeymoons
Vickey or Belize 43. Both feel intimate, and Belize is the better of the two if you want to stay out overnight.
Family Holidays
Plan A or Grand Voyage 42 — stable, spacious and easy for children to get in and out of the water.
Birthday Parties
Scarlet 43 or Kia Ora. For a large party, the 15 Metre Power Cat is hard to beat.
Stag and Hen Trips
Nina or Odyssey — good energy, good space, and a layout that suits a group that wants to be together all day.
Corporate Days
Lagoon 400 or Lagoon 42. Comfortable, well finished, and the kind of boat that makes an impression without trying.
Weddings
Belize 43 or Scarlet 43 for an intimate ceremony; Lagoon 500 or the 15 Metre Power Cat for the full guest list.
How Booking Works
1. Choose your boat
Browse the fleet, ask us anything, and pick the one that fits your group.
2. Tell us about your group
How many people, whether there are children on board, and anything we should know in advance.
3. Pick your date
Check availability early if you are travelling in the high season — the popular boats go first.
4. Plan the route
Ang Thong? Koh Tao? Or just cruise and see where the day takes you? We will suggest a route based on your date and the conditions.
5. Meet the crew
You are collected from your hotel and taken to the pier, where you meet your captain, crew and get a run through a short safety briefing before departing for the open waters.
6. Enjoy the day
Swim, snorkel, eat, sunbathe — the day is yours and the plan can still change while you are on the water.
7. Back to Samui
Cruise back in the late afternoon, with your transfer waiting at the pier to take you home.
Why Book With Us
Oceans Elite Charters is a luxury yacht and private boat charter company based in Koh Samui, operating as an independent charter company. We do not own the boats; instead, we represent a carefully selected fleet and assess each vessel, crew, safety equipment, and required licence before recommending it to guests. This allows us to match you with a catamaran that best fits your group size, preferred date, itinerary, and budget.
That independence is the point. An owner-operator has one boat to sell you. We have thirteen catamarans on our books, in addition to yachts, speedboats and party vessels, so the recommendation you get is for the boat that fits your group rather than the boat that happens to be free. Browse the full range we charter.
- Real choice — thirteen catamarans from 10 to 35 guests, sailing and power, at every price point in between.
- Vessels, crews, safety equipment and licences are inspected regularly before we charter them to guests.
- Experienced local crews who know these waters, the islands and where the day boats will not be.
- You are in charge on the day. Change the plan mid-trip if you want to — the boat is yours for the duration.
- Clear inclusions. We tell you what is covered before you book, not after.
- Return transfers from your hotel or villa arranged as part of the charter.
One point of contact for everything: the boat, the route, the catering and any celebration arrangements go through the same team, whichever vessel you end up on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Day rates start from ฿18,000 for the smaller catamarans and rise to ฿65,000 for the largest and most premium vessels, with most of the fleet between ฿23,000 and ฿30,000. The final price depends on the boat, the duration and the route.
Between 10 and 35 guests depending on the catamaran. Most take 12 to 15. If your group is larger, the 15 Metre Power Cat carries up to 45.
Yes — it is the format we recommend most often for families. The twin hulls keep the boat stable, there is space for children to move around without disturbing anyone, and swimming access from the stern is easy.
Yes. Life jackets are provided in children's sizes and the crews are used to having families on board. Tell us the ages when you book so the right equipment is ready.
Yes. The itinerary is yours, and it can be changed while you are on the water as long as conditions allow. Your captain has the final say on safety.
Koh Madsum, Koh Tan, Koh Phangan, Ang Thong National Marine Park, Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan are the usual destinations, along with quieter bays around Koh Samui itself.
Yes, and it is one of the best uses of a catamaran. The wide, stable deck makes a far better viewing platform than a smaller boat.
Yes. Masks, fins and life jackets are carried on every charter.
Drinking water, soft drinks, fresh fruit and snacks are standard. Lunch is usually part of a full-day charter, and alcohol is either arranged by us in advance or brought by you — we will confirm which applies to your booking.
Yes. Every charter is fully crewed by an experienced captain and crew — these are not bareboat rentals. We charter the vessel and its crew together, and inspect both.
On selected catamarans with proper cabins. Belize 43 and Lagoon 42 are both well suited to overnight charters.
No. Oceans Elite Charters is a luxury yacht and private boat charter company based in Koh Samui, We represent a range of catamarans, yachts and speedboats, and inspect the vessels, crews, safety equipment and licences before chartering them to guests. It means we can recommend the boat that suits your group rather than the one we happen to own.
The Gulf of Thailand is generally at its calmest and clearest in the first half of the year, with the wettest and windiest conditions usually arriving towards the end of the year. We run charters year-round and check the forecast for your specific dates before confirming a route.
For the high season, a few months ahead is sensible, particularly for the larger boats. In quieter months a couple of weeks is usually enough.
